Thanks to a dream I had last night, I found it necessary to write this post!!! The dream, in true AUGUST fashion, started out with a lovely ‘Meet the Teacher’ scene. The kids were exploring the classroom, the parents were asking questions, and previous students were stopping by for a hug on the way to their new classrooms. It was perfect! Then, to my horror, it happens. A parent with a deathly fear of spiders comes into the classroom, walks around, and finally sees Winona in the cage next to the window. She lets out a blood curdling scream and passes out right there in the middle of the floor. The kids all run to their parents absolutely terrified! ~What a way to start the year? Right?
So hopefully this can be a warning to students and parents to come…WE HAVE A TARANTULA!!! 🙂 She is a rose-haired tarantula and is named Winona. I want to let you know that she is the most fabulous class pet ever! Students flock to her instantly! She sparks wonderful conversations, writings, and learning!
Here is a link that has some information about tarantulas like Winona: Rose-Haired Tarantulas.
Now everyone can come to ‘Meet the Teacher’ having been pre-warned about our fantastic pet!!! See ya soon!
I love the name!!!!!
That was the name she had at the pet store! After that, I knew I had to buy her!
Coolest class pet ever.
